Once Upon a Time...

Armed with a wooly scarf, a pot of Itsu dumplings and a camera (with a very low battery!), I jumped on a train from Victoria to Brighton in search of adventure. Here's a little peak at what caught my eye...

Hazy light, autumnal colours and aztec prints aplenty plus, of course, a huge dollop of alternative style. Goodbye Brighton- until next time!

Bloomsbury Festival

Pop by and say hello to me at the Bloomsbury Festival next weekend!

On 22nd and 23rd I will have a stall spilling over with glorious seasonal delights. Come and treat yourself to some gorgeous goodies or grab some early Christmas pressies for your very favourite people!

I'm working hard on drawing, snipping, sewing and packaging to make sure everything is in tip top condition and ready for new homes.

I'll be stocking my brand new winter range as well, some of which hasn't been seen by anyone else but me yet! And if you don't feel special enough already, my Tipsy Badger will also be making an appearance. He always brings a smile to people's faces!

Hopefully see you there!

The Old Forge

Last Saturday I spent a rather chilly morning warming up in The Old Forge Cafe with a steaming cup of tea and some rather tasty tea-cakes. I'd popped by to check up on my products and re-stock with some new seasonal delights!

Set in the heart of the pretty village of Crandford, the cafe is a little nugget of scrumptious, homespun perfection. With a stash of reading material, hand-stitched bunting and homemade cakes, it's the perfect place to chill out and indulge.

I'm sure my Christmas creatures will feel right at home!

The Mystery of Foxes

Curious Little Fox in my Etsy Shop

I remember one morning a couple of years ago I came downstairs only to find a red fox peeping in at me through my kitchen window, its black nose pressed up against the glass leaving small clouds of condensation. I was a little startled to say the least, particularly as my kitchen was on the second floor! How it got up there I have no idea. But that's the thing about foxes, they have mysterious ways.

Some of my favourite foxy finds:

Pistachio & Silk Purple

I popped out on Friday to stock up on packaging and ended up coming back with a huge bag crammed full of lovely new art supplies. It's been a long time since I've indulged in paint but I just couldn't resist the delicious shades of acrylic below.

And it seemed once I got started I couldn't stop. A pack of drawing pens, a satisfyingly thick A3 pad and a juicy copy of Nylon later and I was back in my studio with a big heap of inspiration on my desk. I can't wait to begin and it seems Daphne can't wait either...

Softly, softly

I’ve been meaning to get a couple of back issues of AMMO magazine for a while now. They’re a great platform for up and coming illustrators and feature a real assortment of styles, from whimsical to edgy, cartoony to graphic.

One of the issues I’ve chosen includes the talented Paris dwelling Gabriella Barouch. Her style is beautifully unique featuring tea-stained palettes, odd narratives and delicate depictions of misplaced animals. She really draws you into her softly rendered, nostalgic world.

Christmas & Heat Waves

After the weekend’s unseasonal heatwave I’ve been left with a longing to draw summer dresses and cats in sunglasses. However, the festive season calls and a lovely big box has turned up on my doorstep full to the brim with my new Christmas Card range. Rather than creatures in summery accessories, it features some rather jolly animals partaking in classic Christmas traditions that we all know and love- sporting antlers, drinking a little too much wine and sneaking a secret kiss beneath the mistletoe.

Whilst starting the holiday season prematurely (ie carols and Christmas trees before December) is not my thing, it’s never too early to get your Christmas cards in, especially when they are as silly and whimsical as these!

So hop on over to my Etsy shop to invest in some Christmas joy that is sure to bring a big fat smile to your friends faces, what could be more festive than that?
