Pringle of Scotland SS13

Personal illustration

If tattoos aren't your thing look away now! Backstage at the Pringle of Scotland SS13 show, set in The Hospital Club, models took every opportunity to whip their tops off and show off their ink. Roses, eagles and snakes spread literally from head to toe.

The runway, however, was a different story. Pringle’s signature knitwear was paired with clean, relaxed tailoring in keeping with the brands classic yet innovative style. A contemporary monotone palette merged with soft creams and smart navy until breaking out into a burst of unexpected colour. Block shades of burnt orange, sky blue and rusty red breathed life into the show whilst stripes, camouflage and argyle prints wove throughout.

Sportswear juxtaposed the luxury of tradition and heritage creating an incredibly wearable collection that any fella would be happy to wear out and about, tattooed or not.

E. Tautz SS13

Personal illustration

I wasn’t able to make it to the E. Tautz show last Saturday but luckily for me Daniel was there photographing for Toni and Guy so I’ve had plenty of images to pour over for inspiration.

Models cut dramatic figures in smart separates and bold outerwear (how amazing is that magenta cape?) whilst sharp tailoring was updated in the brightest hues of hot pink, cornflower blue and canary yellow. Sleek t-shirts emblazoned with edgy motifs were paired effortlessly with sunglasses and hats creating an overall collection that exuded confidence and cool. It looks set to be a colourful summer in 2013!

YMC SS13

Personal illustration

I had so much fun backstage at the YMC show! Hidden away in the basement of Phonica Records, Soho, The YMC collection was as diverse as it was beautiful. Embracing kimono prints, classic checks and a large helping of leopard print, the designs were at once tailored yet relaxed, bold yet unassuming.

As people munched on citrus and mint salads backstage, incredible attention to detail was paid- boys' nails were perfectly filed, socks were pulled up just so and outfits were tweaked and adjusted right up until the model stepped out onto the runway.

The colour palette was sublime- deep burgundy and forest green nestled unexpectedly amongst pastel shades of lemon and blue lending a playful twist to the classic chambray suits and polo shirts. It was the epitome of carefree holiday dressing, the kind of clothes that were made for stumbling across adventures and lounging around in the sun!

Hackett SS13

Personal illustration

It's about time I put up my images from London Collections: Men which took place last weekend. It was a good chance for me to test out my new camera and I was pleasantly surprised at how the images came out (of course Daniel had given me a couple of sneaky lessons before hand otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue what I was doing with it!)

Set against the fittingly luxurious backdrop of the Royal Opera House, the Hackett show was an eclectic and quintessentially British affair. Impeccably tailored suits and incredibly fine knitwear came alive in a muted palette of the softest creams interspersed with explosions of colour and a sprinkle of floral.

At once nostalgic and yet bang on trend the show was a hit with the audience and closed with a welcome parade of suited males complete with bowler hats and umbrellas. It had to be one of my favourite shows and I even managed to grab a goody bag at the end!

Diamond Facets

A few months ago the West Berkshire Writers contacted me asking if I would illustrate their latest publication 'Diamond Facets' and I jumped at the chance to branch out and tackle some new subject matter.

This is one of my favoruite illustrations that I produced. She's for a poem called 'We Will Have to Leave' written by my very good friend Caroline Hossack. I've just received my copy of the book and it looks beautiful so I'll post some pics of it as soon as I get a chance!
